The Baker Company and Nikon Europe B.V. - Healthcare (“Nikon”) announce partnership to distribute within Europe the OxyGenie™, a low oxygen culture system for plant and cell biology.

The Baker Company, a global leader in biosafety and contamination control technology, and a worldwide leader in anaerobic and precision low-oxygen culture solutions for microbiology and cell culture applications, has partnered with Nikon, one of the leaders in microscopy and imaging.

The partnership delivers to researchers a small, portable, and continuous physoxic (hypoxic) environment for short term physiological and temperature studies.

Baker’s OxyGenie™ is a low oxygen culture system for plant and cell biology.  As a miniaturized incubation platform that is ideal for conducting high resolution microscopy or irradiation under physiological oxygen conditions, OxyGenie™ further extends the time in which cells can be exposed to in vivo like cell growth conditions.

“OxyGenie™ cell culture platform is ideal for conducting high resolution microscopy or irradiation under physiological oxygen conditions, further extending the time in which your cells can be exposed to in vivo like cell growth conditions. Working with Nikon is a fantastic possibility as their expertise on light microscopy is clearly unrivalled. We are looking forward to bringing this novel tool to the use of microscopists all over the world which will enable microscopy imaging from a completely new standpoint. The Baker Company and its sales channel partners are poised to change the face of cell culture as we know it by introducing tools that mimic in vivo physiology.” - Krista Rantanen, Director of Scientific Applications, The Baker Company

Nikon Europe B.V.

Nikon is a leader in microscope-based optical and imaging technologies for the life sciences and part of the Nikon Healthcare Business Division.

With over 100 years expertise in the field, Nikon has always been at the forefront of optical and technological innovation, promoting creativity and trustworthiness as part of the company's global mission statement. The Nikon story began back in 1917 when three Japanese optical manufacturers merged to form a company known as Nippon Kogaku KK ('Japan Optics'), producing precision optical glass. In 1925 the brand expanded to produce the first microscope with a revolving nosepiece and interchangeable objectives - the Joico microscope.

Today Nikon is a world-renowned brand, firmly established as a market leader in optical instrumentation and the only microscope company to manufacture its own glass, ensuring the very finest quality assurance throughout production. Nikon’s broad portfolio of microscope systems includes products for the educational, clinical, materials science, and research market as well as the biotech/pharma industry.
