Ocular-Free Design for Heads up Microscopy


Perform heads up microscopy within the oxygen controlled environment of Baker Ruskinn workstations with Etaluma’s digital microscopy solutions.

Etaluma’s Lumascope line of inverted microscopes constitute a dramatic new concept in digital fluorescence microscopy that combines high resolution and sensitivity.  Powered and controlled by USB connected to your PC, Lumascopes offer greater versatility, including the capability for long term time-lapse and live video recording. The compact design of all models allows live cell imaging in hypoxia and anaerobic chambers, incubators, hoods, and other challenging locations. Eliminate any chance of exposure to elevated oxygen levels by eliminating removal of your samples from the chamber.  Options include full XYZ automation for microplates and other multi-position samples.  Phase contrast available on all models.

Baker and Baker Ruskinn formed a partnership with Etaluma in 2012 after researchers from King’s College London demonstrated in situ live cell imaging under physoxic conditions using a Lumascope inside the SCI-tive workstation.

Since then, Etaluma has been an exclusive partner for physiologically relevant imaging within the InvivO2 400 and other Baker Ruskinn Workstations.

  1. Small footprint conserves valuable real estate within the workstation.
  2. Monitor on back wall of workstation allows “heads up” viewing of cells under physoxia rather than using oculars protruding from the chamber.
  3. Economical relative to traditional microscope solutions.
  4. Easy set up in a workstation, no modifications required, and need only one or two cords to pass through the sealed cable port to a PC outside the workstation.
  5. Lumascopes are robust! They have high tolerance to high humidity (non-condensing) and incubator temperatures.
  6. Can be sterilized by hydrogen peroxide vapor, ethanol, or hypochlorite.
  7. Functionality ranges from transmitted light (brightfield and phase contrast) up to 3 colour fluorescence and full X,Y Z automation.
