Introducing Baker Rx: Proven Engineering. Optimized for Pharmacy.

Sterile compounding places unique demands on the primary engineering control. Cleaning and disinfection protocols, workspace organization, airflow management, equipment access, and daily usability all look different in a pharmacy than in a standard research lab.

Baker has supported pharmacy compounding for decades with clean benches and biological safety cabinets built on the EdgeGARD® and SterilGARD® platforms. Rx brings that engineering foundation into pharmacy-specific configurations, selected around how sterile compounding work is actually performed.

Built on Established Platforms, Configured for Pharmacy

The Rx portfolio builds on the already proven engineering behind EdgeGARD® and SterilGARD®.

EdgeGARD® Rx provides an ISO Class 5 environment for product protection in non-hazardous sterile compounding applications, based on Baker‘s horizontal laminar flow clean bench platform.

SterilGARD® Rx builds on Baker‘s Class II Type A2 biosafety cabinet platform to deliver personnel, product, and environmental protection for sterile compounding applications requiring containment, including hazardous drug compounding performed under applicable USP <800> practices.

Designed Around Pharmacy Workflow

316 stainless steel interior construction stands up to the repeated disinfectant exposure that rigorous pharmacy cleaning protocols require, without the pitting or corrosion lesser materials develop over time. Coved corners and a dished worksurface eliminate the particle traps that complicate daily wipe-down, and smooth interiors, with no plumbing, petcocks, interior outlets, or armrests, mean fewer surfaces for contamination to collect. That carries more weight under Category 2 and 3 environmental monitoring requirements than it did under the prior risk-tier framework.

A digital pressure gauge puts cabinet status at a glance and keeps documentation on hand for certification and inspection. Industry inspection data consistently points to environmental monitoring and documentation gaps, not equipment failure, as the leading cause of USP <797> findings. The Rx gauge is built to address that specific gap directly.

Rx supports IV workflow integration in multiple configurations, adaptable to how a pharmacy’s team actually works and the space available. A multi-position IV bar and pharmacy storage keep supplies accessible without cluttering the work zone.

Stainless steel, cleanable cable pass-throughs provide organized, corrosion-resistant routing for the monitors, scanners, and other equipment increasingly built into pharmacy workflow.

Each Rx configuration retains the airflow and protection principles of the Baker platform it’s built on.

Purpose-Configured, Still Flexible

Every pharmacy has different needs, but that doesn’t mean every engineering control has to start as a blank sheet of paper. Baker Rx brings recommended pharmacy features into ready-to-specify configurations, simplifying selection while preserving the flexibility to adapt the cabinet when a pharmacy’s workflow requires something different.

Additional accessories, monitor mounting, workflow equipment, and customer-selected technology can still be accommodated when needed.

Choose the Protection Your Application Requires

Baker Rx is available across two engineering control platforms, with pharmacy-optimized configurations in both 4-foot and 6-foot widths.

EdgeGARD® Rx is a horizontal laminar flow clean bench designed for applications where product protection is required. HEPA-filtered horizontal airflow provides an ISO Class 5 work environment for sterile compounding, with pharmacy-focused features added to match the way pharmacy teams work.

SterilGARD® Rx is a Class II Type A2 biosafety cabinet providing personnel, product, and environmental protection for sterile compounding applications requiring containment, including hazardous drug compounding performed under applicable USP <800> practices.

A New Pharmacy Portfolio from Baker

For more than 70 years, Baker has built engineering controls around one principle: protect what matters. The Rx portfolio applies that same engineering approach to the specific needs of today’s compounding pharmacy.

Purpose-configured features. A platform with decades of field use behind it. Engineering built for the way pharmacy compounding actually works. That’s Baker Rx.
