The Baker Company is happy to be an ABSA Corporate Member yet again for 2024
ABSA International is an association of biosafety professionals to “promote biosafety as a scientific discipline and serve the growing needs of biosafety professionals throughout the world.” This is achieved through a very active group base that has annual conferences, a very thorough resource center, and active communication within the community. Members have a direct source of information and advice within this group through creating working relationships face to face, as well as electronically. The ABSA ListServ is a great resource to ask specific questions directly to the members and get real-time support. The ABSA community also works very hard to advocate for biosafety as a scientific discipline and created a training and an accreditation program to recognize and award biosafety professionals. These together help to strengthen the view of biosafety as a profession.
Baker has been a corporate sponsor of ABSA for many years, providing specific resources on biosafety pertaining to biosafety cabinets and other laboratory ventilation equipment. Lately, our Biosafety Mythbusters series has provided experimental evidence to prove or disprove BSC use situations, helping to shed light on proper and improper usage. The presentations of these findings are greatly looked forward to at the annual conference. Baker also supports the ABSA community as a resource for all BSC questions, whether it is on appropriate cabinet selection, installation, or cleaning and disinfection both at the global level, as well as the local factions of the ABSA association across the world. Notably, we have had a presence in the USA at NEBSA in New England, MaBION in the MidWest, ChABSA in the Mid Atlantic coast, SBA in the Southern MidWest, and EBSA in Europe.
