Featuring Dr. Kara Brunelle Held
We’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Kara Brunelle Held, Ph.D., to lead this engaging and informative session. Dr. Held brings a wealth of experience in cell biology and laboratory safety. Before joining The Baker Company, she served as a Lab Manager, Safety Officer, and Researcher at the Harvard Stem Cell Institute, where she worked extensively with iPS cell-derived motor neurons. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Vermont and completed postdoctoral training at Yale University, focusing on blood vessel regulation.
Today, Dr. Held applies her deep scientific expertise to New Product Development and product testing, ensuring that The Baker Company’s equipment continues to meet the highest standards of safety and performance.
What You’ll Learn
In this session, Dr. Held will explore how cabinet design, size, and user practices influence airflow, containment, and safety when more than one person is working within a BSC. She’ll separate fact from fiction and provide practical guidance to help labs maintain both productivity and biosafety.
Whether you’re a lab manager, researcher, or biosafety professional, this is an opportunity to gain valuable insights and improve your understanding of best practices in shared workspace safety.
